Most of the guests who walk through our door on a Monday tell us the same thing: the weekend was full, and it went by too fast. Brunch, errands, a workout, a long call with family. All good things. None of them rest.

Rest is not the same as leisure

Leisure is something we do. Rest is something we allow. The nervous system needs stretches of time without a goal to shift fully into its slower, repairing state, and that rarely happens when every hour is booked, even with pleasant plans.

An empty morning is not wasted. It is the space where your body finally catches up with you.

Three small ways to begin

  • Leave the first two hours of Sunday unplanned, phone in another room.

  • Choose one slow sensory task: brewing tea, watering plants, folding warm laundry.

  • Lie on the floor for ten minutes with your knees bent and let the ground hold you.

None of this needs discipline. It only needs permission. Start with one Sunday and notice how Monday feels.
